The MundoGT Xfinity Series waved the green flag for the first time last week at Charlotte.
43 participants raced very hard over 100 laps for being fastest of all. As the majority of the field was not used to race on oval, the caution periods affected the whole race, affecting the tyre strategy and fuel mileage. In fact, this is what NASCAR is about: racing tactics.
Sánchez overtook drivers who gambled in the second-last caution, and he took the chequered flag.
Not only did race incidents affect the lower part of the field, but also the front runners. Ît Demons was the strongest teams with three cars in the top ten for the most of the laps, but Marc Montaner, Omar Soto and Rafael Cabrera suffered non-terminal spins and handed down the victory to Sánchez, who had better tyres than the drivers who elected not to pit in the second-last caution. “Bad luck to our four drivers in the #MGTXf. ¡Time to recover from it at Darlington”, said Pit Demons on Twitter.
Sánchez is leading the championship after leading most of the laps, completing a full-point event with 48. Next race will be held at Darlington. ‘The Lady in Black’ is one of the touchest tracks in the calendar, and the best drivers will have to kiss the walls in order to go fast next on 3rd February. You want racing, you want MundoGT. ¡See you there!
